Four run fourth gives NSU a 8-4 win over Drury

SEARCY, Ark. – Northeastern State used a four-run fourth inning to best Drury, 8-4, in the first of two games on Saturday at the Haring Invitational. Sierra Crick had a two-hit game with a pair of RBI, and Brittany Beaudet came out of the bullpen and spun four scoreless frames for her first win at NSU.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
The RiverHawks struck first with Cameron Conrad opening the game with a leadoff double. She would come around on an Alyssia Crick fielder's choice. Addie Elbon swiped home as part of a double-steal by NSU for their second run. With two outs, Cat Rodman gave the RiverHawks the third run of the inning on a single through the left side.  

NSU pushed their lead up to four in the second with Megan Green scoring on a ground out double-play.  

In the fourth, Drury opened up the inning with a leadoff homer to left. They would load the bases and tie the game, scoring two off a double and the fourth run on a throw that advanced the runners. Northeastern State returned the favor in the bottom half of the inning. 

Jaeden Rosenquist scored the go-ahead run for NSU on a wild pitch with no-out. Conrad followed up and hit an RBI single through the right. Sierra Crick hit a ninth pitch sac fly to right to score Conrad in from third. Jess Schuler capped the inning with an RBI double to left-center to go up 8-4.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • The top-two batters in the NSU lineup went 4-7.
  • Beaudet came in with the bases loaded in the fourth and struck out a pair of batters.
  • NSU was 4-4 with a runner on third with less than two outs.
