RiverHawks sweep Lopers

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State will go into its hiatus as winners thanks to a Jess Schuler homer in the bottom of the sixth to wrap up its doubleheader sweep of Nebraska-Kearney Thursday.

THE BASICS
Score: Northeastern State 1, Nebraska-Kearney 0
Records: Northeastern State (16-8, 4-2 MIAA), Nebraska-Kearney (13-13, 3-3 MIAA)
NSU Pitcher of Record: Brittany Beaudet (3-2); Gail Young (1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Beaudet scattered six hits and struck out three for the RiverHawks who struggled plate a run. Northeastern State left six runners on-base before Schuler bashed a no-doubter to left with one out in the sixth.

The Lopers led the seventh off with a double and Young entered the game. Following sac bunt to move the runner to third, Young recorded a big six-pitch strikeout to push UNK to their final out. On the first pitch, the Loper batter flew out to end the game.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Sixth straight win at home over the Lopers.
  • Seventh career save for Young.
