Opening Tip
  • One of the more unique coaching meetings in NCAA Division II men's basketball in Oklahoma with both head coaches being Northeastern State alumni.  NSU's Ja Havens was a graduate assistant coach for two seasons while RSU's Justin Barkley played for the Redmen.  Barkley would go on to be a member of the 2003 National Championship team at NSU.  The pair have tangled twice before as head coaches with Haven's East Central team splitting a home-and-home series with the Hillcats.
  • The RiverHawks have started the same five in the last four games.  However, for the first time since the 2015-16 season, NSU will not have a player start every game this season.
  • For seven NSU student-athletes, it will be the first time that they will face Rogers State.   Brad Davis is the NSU leading returner to face the Hillcats.  The senior has averaged 15 points against RSU and had a career-high 24 point game in Tahlequah last season.   Troy Locke is averaging 12 points in two meetings with Rogers State.
  • Northeastern State has a four-game winning streak in away games within the State of Oklahoma.
  • Lucas Hunter, NSU's assistant coach, was on Rogers State bench last season as an assistant.
NSU individual player notes are on page one of the game notes.

The Series with Rogers State
  • Northeastern State broke through and snapped a seven-game skid against Rogers State last time out with an 89-73 win in Claremore. The 16 point win was the largest for a team inside RSU's home arena since Nov. 12, 2016, vs. Midwestern State.
  • All-Time in Claremore vs. Rogers State, NSU is 1-3.
  • In the known history, NSU is 4-3 in Claremore and was 3-0 against the Oklahoma Military Academy.
  • Rogers State is 4-0 against the RiverHawks in Tahlequah.
  • Head Coach Ja Havens is 1-1 vs. Rogers State and is 0-1 against the Hillcats in Claremore.
About the Hillcats
  • Due to a postponement with Central Oklahoma, the Hillcats have been idle since Jan. 7, where they beat Newman, 73-56.
  • Saturday will be the first time both teams will face each other with sub .500 records.
  • The Hillcats opened their home schedule 0-3 for the first time in program history and have not lost more than four games in a season at home.  All-Time RSU is 155-36 inside the Claremore Expo Center.
  • They have five players averaging at least ten points a game, with Devin Pullum leading the Hillcats with 12.7 points a game.  Brewster Peacock is sixth on RSU's All-Time Scoring list with 954 points, and he is also fourth in rebounding with 376.
  • Rogers State qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time last season but did not get to play due to the cancellation of the championship this previous March.
Looking Back
  • A hot start from Dillon Bailey and a strong finish from Christian Cook propelled the RiverHawks to an 82-72 win over Newman.  The freshman duo scored 29 combined points as NSU snapped a six-game skid, and it was the team's first home win of the season.
  • Obi Agu recorded his first double-double in an NSU uniform with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Troy Locke had 12, and Brad Davis came away with ten. Bailey had all nine of his points scored in the first half.
  • Northeastern State never trailed the Jets and led as many as 17 points with 1:24 left in the first half. It was the largest lead for the RiverHawks this season.
  • Second time this season NSU has a 20-point scorer off the bench; Troy Locke had 21 at Fort Hays State.
