Hannah Stettler knocked in her fourth goal of the season in game-winning fashion to give the RiverHawks a 1-0 overtime victory over Missouri Western Friday evening.
The game-winner is the second this season for Stettler, who has scored three goals in the last two matches for the RiverHawks.
Stettler scored in the second minute of overtime on a pass from the top of the box from
Callie Rucker. The kick was from 20 yards out was just past the reach of the MWSU keeper on the left side of the net.
Statistically, both teams nearly mirrored each other, with Missouri Western having a slight 16-14 edge in shots. Corners were favored to NSU 4-to-0.
Brennan Hockett earned the shutout with eight saves at goal.
Friday evening is the fourth time NSU has been taken to overtime, with the previous three resulting in draws.
The win moves Northeastern State to 5-5-3 overall (2-3-1 MIAA) and snapped a three-game win streak for Missouri Western who drops to 7-4-2 (4-2-0 MIAA)
The RiverHawks will host Northwest Missouri Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
