Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

NSU has five in double figures in win over Haskell (Kan.)

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State opened with 11 unanswered points and had no issues handling Haskell Indian Nations 99-66 in front of over 2200 in attendance Friday evening.

The RiverHawks had five players in double-figures, with Emeka Obukwelu leading the way with 18 points and nine rebounds.   Christian Cook had 16 points, Dillon Bailey scored 12, with both Jaxon Jones and Rashad Perkins putting in 11 each.

Brad Davis was a point short of a double-double with a career-high 11 assists.

On the glass, NSU nearly doubled the Indians with 51.  Obukwelu led both teams with nine; Bailey and Tylor Arnold had eight.

Friday's 99 points are the highest for a Ja Havens-led team, and NSU's 31 assists are the most for the team since Dec. 9, 2017, against Southwest Baptist.

After going 0-11 in the first half, Haskell landed nine three-pointers in the second half and was led by Ryan Island, who had 15 points.  Friday's game did not count for the Indians.

Northeastern State shot 53-percent from the field (33-66) and landed 16 three-pointers, their most since the 2020 regular-season finale.

The RiverHawks improve to 4-1 overall and return to the court Saturday to host Ozarks (Ark.) at 4 p.m.
