TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State opened with 11 unanswered points and had no issues handling Haskell Indian Nations 99-66 in front of over 2200 in attendance Friday evening.
The RiverHawks had five players in double-figures, with
Emeka Obukwelu leading the way with 18 points and nine rebounds. Â
Christian Cook had 16 points,
Dillon Bailey scored 12, with both
Jaxon Jones and
Rashad Perkins putting in 11 each.Â
Brad Davis was a point short of a double-double with a career-high 11 assists.Â
On the glass, NSU nearly doubled the Indians with 51. Â Obukwelu led both teams with nine; Bailey and
Tylor Arnold had eight.Â
Friday's 99 points are the highest for a
Ja Havens-led team, and NSU's 31 assists are the most for the team since Dec. 9, 2017, against Southwest Baptist.Â
After going 0-11 in the first half, Haskell landed nine three-pointers in the second half and was led by Ryan Island, who had 15 points. Â Friday's game did not count for the Indians.Â
Northeastern State shot 53-percent from the field (33-66) and landed 16 three-pointers, their most since the 2020 regular-season finale.Â
The RiverHawks improve to 4-1 overall and return to the court Saturday to host Ozarks (Ark.) at 4 p.m.Â
