COMMERCE, Texas -- The RiverHawks had two with 20-point performances but had a late rally come up short Saturday evening in a 69-61 setback to UT Tyler.
Thanks to a 12-4 run in the final four minutes on 5-for-5 shooting, Northeastern State got within eight of the Patriots. However, in the final 60 seconds, two critical turnovers would send NSU to 2-3 overall this season.
Zaria Collins returned to the floor with a game-high 25 points following a two-game absence, missing her career-high by one.
Maleeah Langstaff had 20 points and eight rebounds. The pair were the lone players for NSU to double figures.
The RiverHawks led the game early and took a 14-12 advantage out of the first quarter, and would trail by only a pair into the intermission. UT Tyler would come out of the locker room shooting 12-for-17 in the third quarter scoring 27 points. Northeastern State could not counter the Patriots' firepower in the quarter as the deficit grew to double-digits.
UT Tyler (3-1) out-rebounded the RiverHawks 33-to-24, with second-chance points favoring the Patriots 17-to-8.
Northeastern State shot 44.9-percent and was limited to 49 offensive possessions. At the free-throw line, they were 13-for-22.
