The Setup

  • Northeastern State is hosting its second game of the season and first since Nov. 16 against Bacone.
  • The homecoming Saturday is short-lived with NSU hosting just one game in December.  Saturday's game is the second to last in the calendar year. January is different, with NSU playing in ten games, with six MIAA home games scheduled.
  • The RiverHawks are looking to halt a five-game skid with three of their last foes either ranked in national or regional polling.

Last Time Out

  • The RiverHawks went scoreless in the first five minutes as Missouri Western opened the game, scoring 12 unanswered points.
  • NSU nearly doubled their season average in turnovers with 20 against the Griffons.
  • Maleeah Langstaff recorded her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Maegan Lee had 14 points for her third double-digit performance of the season.
  • True freshman Ashton Hackler made her first career start for the RiverHawks.

Storylines

  • Zaria Collins holds the MIAA's ninth highest-scoring average per game this season at 16.7 and has scored at least ten points in nine of the last ten games.  The junior is second in the MIAA with 115 field-goal attempts and ninth with 41 made buckets.
  • Maleeah Langstaff is among the top-100 in the nation win six statistical categories this season, and leads the MIAA with 15 blocks.  The senior is among the MIAA leaders with 7.2 defensive rebounds per game and fifth in the association with 9.9 rebounds per game.  Langstaff is fifth in the MIAA with three double-double games this season.
  • Morgan Lee leads the RiverHawks with 84 games played with 55 starts.  Against Bacone this season, Lee had a career-high seven steals, which is second-most in a game in the MIAA this season and tied for fifth-most in NCAA Division II women's basketball.   She is second in the MIAA with 15 steals. Her twin-sister Maegan Lee is third on the NSU roster averaging 10.3 points per game this season.  The RiverHawks have a third Lee in true-freshman Courtney Lee, who is not related to the Lee Twins and has seen the floor in all eight games.
  • After missing the first six games due to injury, true-freshman Jaylee Kindred made her career debut at Northwest Missouri
  • Jessica Barrow leads the RiverHawks with 15 made three-pointers and is shooting .469 from the arc, averaging ten points per game.
  • Northeastern State's 62 team rebounds against Bacone is an MIAA high tied for 11th-most in NCAA Division II women's basketball this season.
  • The RiverHawks are entering their tenth season as members of the MIAA and 25th season as an NCAA Division II program.
  • In October, Northeastern State was picked to finish in 11th place in both the MIAA Coaches and Media Polls.

About Pittsburg State
