WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Northeastern State rallied twice and downed (RV) St. Cloud State, 5-4, on a walk-off double from
Cat Rodman in the eighth inning Saturday.
Rodman hit a 1-0 count pitch with two outs and the bases loaded to the right-center to plate
Cameron Conrad and
Lauren Minor for the win.Â
The RiverHawks (13-6) out-hit the Huskies 12-to-5 but trailed 3-1 heading into the sixth. NSU threatened in the home frame and got two runners on with the go-ahead run on second. They would chip a run back on the Huskies with an
Alyssia Crick RBI single to left field. Â
Rhomie Bradshaw smashed a game-tying homer on the second pitch she saw to left to push the game to extras with the RiverHawks down to their final two outs.Â
Playing with the international tiebreaker in the eighth, the Huskies scored their placed runner on second for the go-ahead run. In the bottom half of the inning, with the placed runner on second, NSU got a hit from
Chloe Bohuslavicky to put runners on the corners. The RiverHawks next two batters would pop up, and strikeout before Rodman hit her game-winning double.
Bradshaw, Bohuslavicky, Crick, Rodman, and
Addy Wolfe all had two-hit games. Wolfe hit her third homer of the season in the fourth, and Bradshaw moved her season homer total to five.
Gail Young (9-3) spun her ninth complete game of the season, striking out eight and allowing one earned run.Â
St. Cloud State opened the season 10-0 before their loss to NSU Saturday.Â
