RiverHawks close regular season, host Ouachita Baptist

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State men's soccer closes its GAC regular season slate by hosting Ouachita Baptist Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Gable Field turf.

First touches
  1. NSU is 3-2 in the six-match conference-only season.
  2. NSU beat Southern Nazarene, 2-1 on Feb. 26 to open the season and after a 10-day layoff NSU fell to Rogers State 4-1 in Claremore. The RiverHawks then rode back-to-back 3-2 overtime victories over Harding and Newman before falling to Fort Hays State 2-1 last Friday.
  3. James Doyle has been named the GAC Defender of the Week twice this season. He has played every minute of the season along with Luis Soler, Cameron McCurdy and Flynn Semmerling.
  4. Doyle leads the team and is tied for third in the conference with three goals. Ryan McCully, the only other RiverHawk who has found the back of the net multiple times, has tallied twice.
  5. Sam Scarth has assisted on five of NSU's 10 goals and his seven points lead the RiverHawks. NSU leads the GAC with 12 (2.4 per game) assists.
  6. Dating back to 2002, NSU holds a 16-3 advantage over the Tigers. NSU is riding a five-match win streak in the series.
  7. Ouachita Baptist is 3-3 (1-3 in GAC) this spring. The match in Tahlequah will be the first true road contest for the Tigers. OBU snapped a three-match losing skid by topping Newman on March 20 at home. Ouachita Baptist was picked last in the preseason coaches' poll.
  8. General admission bleacher seating on the east side of the stadium will be allowed on every third row to adhere to physical distancing recommendations.
  9. It is Senior Day for the RiverHawks and they will honor three before the match.
Up next: The GAC Soccer Championship will begin April 10 with the top seeds hosting on their respective campuses. NSU is currently the No. 3 seed.
