TAHLEQUAH -- A big seven-run sixth inning gave the RiverHawks a 10-4 win in their series opener Sunday against Emporia State.

Four NSU players had two hits as they improved their record to 21-10 overall and 18-7 in the MIAA.

Jaxon Phipps homered for the ninth time this season, and Lee Callison (2-1) got the win out of the bullpen going 3 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts.

Emporia (12-20, 8-17 MIAA) led the game off with a first-pitch homer. Then a failed pickoff and a throwing error scored the second run in the second.

Brayden Rodden grabbed a run back in with a double down the left-field line scoring Reid Fehr in from third.

C.D. White opened a big seven-run inning for the RiverHawks with a single up the middle. Jaxon Phipps followed up with a three-run homer to left.  Blaze Brothers scored the fifth run on a sac fly, and Rodden doubled in Matt Erwin to put the RiverHawks up 7-2 on ESU.  A defensive miscue allowed for the seventh run of the inning to come in.

In the eighth, Fehr hit his fourth homer of the season, scoring two runs.
