TAHLEQUAH --
C.D. White hit a go-ahead two-RBI single in the seventh to give Northeastern State its first MIAA sweep of the season, beating Fort Hays State 7-6 Saturday.
The wins move NSU ten games above .500 for the first time since 2002 with an overall record of 16-6 and a 13-5 MIAA mark and its fourth straight sweep of Fort Hays State.
Connor Bell,
Collin Klingensmith,
Brayden Rodden all homered for the RiverHawks, with Bell having a 3-for-3 day at the play in his third start of the season.
Northeastern State trailed for most of the game, with the Tigers using a three-run fourth to take a 6-5 advantage. Bell hit a homer in the fourth, and it would take until the seventh for NSU to get things rolling their way after Klingensmith got on to start the inning on an error.
Blake Freeman followed up with a walk, and
Jaxon Phipps advanced Klingensmith to third on an outfield fly ball.
Freeman would steal second to put both runners in scoring position for White, who singled both of them in on a laser shot to the left-field wall.
Dakodah Jones (2-1) pitched five scoreless innings of relief and stuck out five batters.
Reid Fehr and
Brayden Rodden both had two-hit games. Freeman saw his 26 game hitting streak end, but he was the eventual winning run with the walk in the seventh.
Fort Hays State falls to 2-20 and 2-16 in the MIAA with the loss.
Northeastern State will head to Alva Tuesday for a non-conference meeting with Northwestern Okla. (14-8) for a first pitch at 3 p.m.
