Late surge carries NSU to second place

ST. JOESPH, Mo. – Northeastern State rallied late, shooting an eight-under in their final two holes, and surged to second place with a 574 (292-282) after two rounds of play at the Holiday Inn Express Classic.  

The RiverHawks fired off the day's lowest round with three players in the top seven. 

Brett Wilcoxen paced NSU with a 141 (72-69) and is just one stroke back of the lead and tied for second place. 

Gabe Replogle made his season debut, shooting a 144 (74-70), and is tied with Carlos Gomez for seventh place overall.   Gomez would card a 72 in both rounds with seven birdies on the day. 

Behind an even 71 round in the afternoon, Ryan Morant was tied for 12th place, shooting a 145. 

Christian Yanovitch is tied for 20th overall after turning in a 147 (74-73). 

The RiverHawks had the second most birdies (34) and had 110 pars on the St. Joseph Country Club.

Northeastern State is three strokes back of Washburn on the leaderboard and holds a one-shot advantage over Missouri Southern.  The RiverHawks will be paired with both Tuesday for the final round.
