Women's Soccer set to host Newman and Rogers State for Senior Day

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State closes out its regular season this weekend, where they will host Newman Friday and then Rogers State for Senior Day on Sunday afternoon. 

The RiverHawks (5-3-8) head into the weekend, holding onto the eighth and final transfer spot for the upcoming MIAA Tournament with a 2-3-4 mark. 

Northeastern State is three points ahead of Missouri Southern and Rogers State, who are tied for ninth place.  Should NSU advance to the MIAA Tournament, its first-round foe will be a road match with an eight-point gap between eighth and fourth place.

Before the match, the program will honor seven seniors for their contributions on Sunday.  Ainsley Cunningham, Eden Coffman, Myka Heimbach, Payton Lieb, Leslie Munoz, Melanie Rice, and Hannah Stettler are NSU student-athletes being recognized.

History with the Jets
Northeastern State has won the last nine of the last ten contests against Newman dating back to 2004 and holds a 12-1-1 series lead.  In Tahlequah, the RiverHawks are 6-1 overall and have shut out the Jets in three consecutive matches.

Scouting the Jets (1-14-1, 1-8 MIAA)
- Newman has been eliminated from postseason play. 
- The Jets are last in the MIAA with 3.06 shots on goal per game
- Goalkeeper Jordan Webster is third in the nation with 112 saves.

History with the Hillcats (4-6-6, 1-4-4 MIAA)
The RiverHawks have faced Rogers State four times and are 1-1-3.  Northeastern State played RSU to a scoreless draw in the first meeting this season in Claremore.

Scouting the Hillcats
- Heading into the season's final weekend, the Hillcats have gone winless in its previous eight matches. 
- Tiffany Brittan is fourth in the MIAA with a .900 goals-against average.
- The Hillcats lead the MIAA with 25 yellow cards. 

Coming Up
Should the RiverHawks qualify for the MIAA postseason, the opening round will be played on October 30.
