RiverHawks host Jets for Senior Day and travels to Southern Nazarene for regular season finale

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State closes out its regular season home slate Thursday evening for Senior Day against Newman before traveling to Southern Nazarene Saturday. 

The RiverHawks (8-4-3, 6-1-3 GAC/MIAA) are among the four teams who are locked into this year's GAC/MIAA Tournament.  With four points separating those teams, Northeastern State has the opportunity yet to host, depending on the circumstances among the other teams. 

Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the RiverHawks lead the conference in ten different statistical categories.

History with the Jets
Northeastern State holds a 17-10-2 series lead over Newman, with the first meeting coming in 1985.  The RiverHawks have won nine of the last ten meetings. 

Scouting the Jets (1-12-3, 1-7-2 GAC/MIAA)
- The Jets have been eliminated from the GAC/MIAA Tournament, and their lone win this season came at home against then-ranked number-15 Fort Hays State.
- Newman is searching for their first road win of the season.
- Matthew Roberts leads Newman with eight points, four coming in the previous three matches.

History with the Crimson Storm
The NSU/SNU rivalry is the oldest and fiercest series for Northeastern State, dating back to 1981.  Southern Nazarene largely controlled the NAIA history of the series, winning 27 of the first 30 contests.  Northeastern State has dominated the recent history, winning 21 of the last 26 games.  

Scouting the Crimson Storm (8-4-3 / 5-3-2 GAC/MIAA)
- Southern Nazarene is third in the GAC/MIAA in scoring, averaging two goals per match, and leads the league with 100 corners. 
- Unaiz Shajani is second in the conference with ten goals and second with 20 shots-on-goal.
- SNU has shared its goalkeeping duties this season and has allowed 1.31 goals per game.

Making History
- With 46 career goals, Flynn Semmerling is Northeastern State's new NCAA Divison II era leader and is third in D-II play in active goals.
- Goalkeeper Niklas Kirhoff is tied for the most shutouts  in a season NSU with eight
- Luan Lamas had two goals within 38 seconds of each other at Newman, plus an assist.  His first goal came off a free kick near midfield, and he followed it up with a goal on a cross pass.  It is the 13th fastest consecutive goals by the same player in NCAA Division II history.
- Northeastern State's ten goals against Bacone this season are tied for the third most in a match in program history.
