TAHLEQUAH – The Northeastern State women's tennis program announced the addition of Valeria Teran, who will join this team for the upcoming spring season. 

Teran joins the RiverHawks from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, and holds a Universal Tennis Ranking (UTR) of 7.99. She was 18-4 in singles last year and had an ITA Junior World Ranking high of 1557. In the April 2022 Venezuela Nacional G1 competition, Teran went 5-2 in singles play, reaching the finals in both singles and doubles. She also went undefeated in six singles matches, winning the Match Venezuela Nacional G1 competition.

"We're excited to have Valeria joining us mid-year as we look forward to the spring. She's proven that she can pick up wins in singles, which will help give us some solid depth in the singles lineup," said head coach Tim McLane. "Adding Valeria to an already strong lineup gives us a group of players that can pick up wins just about anywhere they play in the lineup, so we're looking for that to be a strength of our team in the coming season."
