BETHANY -- Southern Nazarene struck early with a pair of goals in the open 16 minutes and shutout Northeastern State 4-0 Saturday evening in their regular season finale.
The scoreless result for the RiverHawks is the second of the season, as they played a man down for the final 66 minutes.
Northeastern State was limited to three shots-on-goal, with the Crimson Storm doubling their score in the second half with goals in the 52nd and 63rd minutes.
Saturday's win for Southern Nazarene (10-5-3, 8-2-2 GAC/MIAA) clinched them the GAC/MIAA Regular season title as the Crimson Strom won seven of its final eight matches. The RiverHawks, who have already qualified for the upcoming tournament, will be the number-four seed and will have a rematch with SNU on Nov. 4 in Bethany. The pair met in last season's opening round, with the RiverHawks being the prevailing team.
Rogers State and Fort Hays State will be the other pairing in the upcoming GAC/MIAA Tournament in Bethany. Should the RiverHawks advance, they will face the winner of that matchup on Sunday.
Northeastern State's regular season will conclude with an overall record of 9-5-3 (6-4-2).
