Men's Soccer opens homestand Thursday

TAHLEQUAH – After playing over half the regular season on the road, the RiverHawks have six of their final eight matches at DeLoache Field.  

Northeastern State will host Ouachita Baptist for the 14th time in school history Thursday before welcoming its historic in-state rival Southern Nazarene on Saturday afternoon. 

The RiverHawks' lone home match resulted in a 1-1 draw with Rogers State, and they are 5-2-2 overall (3-1-1 GAC/MIAA).

History with the Tigers
The RiverHawks have won nine straight against the Tigers and are 20-3 all-time when facing Ouachita Baptist.  Northeastern State has shut out OBU in the previous four meetings. 

Scouting the Tigers (1-8-2 / 1-4 GAC/MIAA)
- Ouachita Baptist has been shut out in three of its previous four matches. 
- The Tigers have been limited to eight goals on the year, with three of those coming in a 3-1 win at Newman.
- OBU is second to last in the GAC/MIAA, allowing 2.6 goals per game.

History with the Crimson Storm
The NSU/SNU rivalry is the oldest and fiercest series for Northeastern State, dating back to 1981.  Southern Nazarene largely controlled the NAIA history of the series, winning 27 of the first 30 contests.  Northeastern State has dominated the recent history, winning 21 of the last 25 games.  

Scouting the Crimson Storm (4-4-3 / 2-1-2 GAC/MIAA)
- Southern Nazarene is third in the GAC/MIAA in scoring, averaging two goals per match, and leads the league with 70 corners. 
- Unaiz Shajani is second in the conference with five goals and fifth with 12 shots-on-goal.
- SNU has split its goalkeeping duties this season and has allowed 1.44 goals per game.

Making History
- With 39 career goals, Flynn Semmerling is Northeastern State's new NCAA Divison II era leader and is third in D-II play in active goals. 
- Luan Lamas had two goals within 38 seconds of each other at Newman, plus an assist. His first goal came off a free kick near midfield, and he followed it up with a goal on a cross pass. It is the 13th fastest consecutive goals by the same player in NCAA Division II history.
