Flynn Semmerling had his eighth career multi-goal night, but the RiverHawks could not weather the Crimson Storm Saturday evening in a 3-2 home setback to Southern Nazarene.
Northeastern State dug themselves into a 2-0 hole, with SNU scoring in the opening 20 minutes. Semmerling cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 25th minute off a pass from
Martin Martinez. The fifth-year senior gave NSU an equalizer in the 51st minute on a penalty kick goal.
Southern Nazarene (6-4-3, 4-1-2 GAC/MIAA) dealt NSU a return blow in the 75th minute, with Unaiz Shajani completing the hat trick.
All the scoring Saturday came from the top two goal leaders in the Great American Conference this season, with both SNU's Shajani and Semmerling having eight.
The loss to SNU drops the Northeastern State to 6-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play.
Northeastern State had a 14-to-8 edge on shots, with SNU leading the RiverHawks 6-to-4 in shots-on-goal.
The RiverHawks remain at home and will have its final non-conference contest on Wednesday evening with Bacone at 6 p.m.
