Women's Tennis wraps up fall action at MSU-Texas

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Freshman Roos Karremans paced the RiverHawks at the rain-shortened MSU-Texas Invitational this past weekend.

Karremans reached the Flight B singles finals Saturday before the weather stopped play in Texas. She downed Washburn's Lara Scmind, a first-team All-MIAA selection, in the opening round 6-2, 2-6, 10-6. Then beat MSU's Alica Di Matteo in the semifinal 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Emilia Cosatto advanced in Flight A singles when her opponent from Cameron retired due to injury, but she would fall 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 to Washburn's Maja Jung.   Alisha Moldakhmetova dropped her first match but beat Washburn's top singles player from 2022, Marta Torres, in the consolidation bracket 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 10-3.

All three of NSU's foes this last weekend were nationally ranked in the top 50 and NCAA postseason qualifiers.

Northeastern State completed its fall with a singles mark of 42-24 (.636); they will be idle until mid-Feb. 2023 when team championship play opens with Ouachita Baptist.
