TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State Baseball continues non-conference play with a four-game, two-day series at Southern Nazarene this Friday and Saturday.
Cold weather prevented a season-opening doubleheader with SNU a year ago, with the first game just being played. Record freezing temperatures and snow halted NSU's season for nearly two weeks after that trip to Bethany.
Northeastern State won the first game 6-4 and suffered a stunning loss to SNU on an eight-run eighth inning in Tahlequah, falling 12-10.
Southern Nazarene opened the season, dropping three of its four games to Newman. In the Great American Conference Preseason Poll, SNU was picked to finish second to last following a 2021 campaign where they finished 8-31 overall.
Northeastern State is 1-2 on the year, with their last action coming on Tuesday at Southeastern Oklahoma. The RiverHawks would fall to the Savage Storm in that road tilt, 8-6.
Both doubleheaders will start at noon and will be seven-inning contests. Saturday's doubleheader will be broadcasted live on GoRiverHawksGo.com and Lakes Country FM locally in the Tahlequah area.
