TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State rallied from a five-run deficit to slug their way past Midwestern State 8-5 to complete a doubleheader sweep Sunday.
Sydney Balderrama went 4-for-4 with three RBI, as NSU out-hit the Mustangs 13-to-5.
The Mustangs led the game off with a homer and scored four in the second inning before NSU had seven hits in the third. Balderrama hit a three-run shot to highlight the five-run frame for the RiverHawks.
Coming out of the bullpen,
Savannah Evans (2-3) locked down the Mustangs for five innings of hitless ball and struck out five batters.
With MSU's offense halted,
Jaeden Rosenquist hit a full-count homer to right in the fifth for a go-ahead run, and
Addy Wolfe blasted a pair of insurance runs with her second homer of the day in the sixth.
Northeastern State improved to 9-6 overall with the win; Midwestern State drops to 1-10.
