TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State will make its first true non-conference road trip Tuesday visiting Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant.
The RiverHawks have won once in their last five tries at Southeastern, with the 2021 non-conference meetings being one-run decisions on each-others home field.
Newcomer
Jake Bigham, a transfer from Southeastern, was their starter in two of the Savage Storm wins in 2020 over the RiverHawks.
Northeastern State went 1-1 in their opening weekend, with
C.D. White hitting .444, with three RBI and two doubles. In his debut,
Brock Reller crushed three homers in seven official at-bats.
The RiverHawks pitching staff had a combined 3.00 earned run average but walked 15 batters and hit five.
Southeastern Oklahoma is 2-0 to start the season lapping East Central 17-4 and 21-2. They host ECU on Monday before facing the RiverHawks. The Savage Storm finished the 2021 season with a 17-22 mark and was picked to finish ninth in the Great American Conference.
