TAHLEQUAH — Central Oklahoma spoiled a record-sized crowd Tuesday with a 9-1 win over Northeastern State.
A recorded crowd of 590 attended the contest surpassing the previous mark by 57, set on May 8, 2016, against Missouri Southern. Tuesday's attendance mark is tops for an MIAA conference game this season and the 18th most in NCAA Division II baseball.
The RiverHawks struck out 13 times and were limited to five hits dropping to 18-12 (8-9 MIAA).
Central plated two runs in the opening frame, and it would take until the fourth for the RiverHawks to counter with an RBI single from
Collin Klingensmith. The Bronchos responded in the fifth with four runs. They later extended their lead with a run in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Blake Freeman had both of NSU's walks, with a hit and a run scored.
Korrdell Jiles (1-1) struck out three and tossed 4.1 innings in his first start of the season.
Northeastern State remains home to host Missouri Western for a three-game series starting on Friday.
