TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State women's tennis closes its regular season this upcoming weekend with visits to Washburn and Northwest Missouri.
With their win Friday against Fort Hays State, the RiverHawks are locked into the MIAA Tournament and will make their ninth consecutive appearance next week in Edmond.
They will travel to Washburn first on Saturday for a 1 p.m. meeting with the Ichabods, who are ranked No. 50 in the latest ITA poll. Weather will push the RiverHawks indoors with the match played in the Genesis Tennis Center. Washburn will have plenty to play for with a 6-0 mark in the MIAA and could win the regular-season title with a 2-0 weekend.
Washburn has won the previous two meetings with NSU but trails the series 16-2 to the RiverHawks.
Sunday will feature No. 42 ranked Northwest Missouri, which is 14-7 overall and 4-2 in the MIAA. The Bearcats will have a dual Saturday with Central Oklahoma before facing the RiverHawks. In Maryville, Northwest is 5-3 at home, with Sunday's match presently scheduled for 11 a.m. outdoors.
Northeastern State leads the overall series with the Bearcats 19-1, with Sunday's meeting being just the fourth in Maryville.
