Women's Tennis adds Leah Gonzales-Edwards

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State head women's tennis coach Tim McLane announced the addition of Leah Gonzales-Edwards Tuesday.

Edwards, a native of London, England, will come to Tahlequah as a freshman in the fall of 2022 and reached an ITF Jr. World ranking of 1539 in January 2021.

"We are really excited to add Leah to an already strong recruiting class for next year," said McLane.  "Leah is a very bright young lady both on and off the court, on top of being a fantastic athlete and a consistent performer in competition.  Her ability to cover the court and create offense will be a big asset to our lineup moving forward."

Edwards had a 23-9 singles record over the past year and held a UTR rating of 7.82, with a career-high of 8.03 in July 2020.  She made the news as an 11-year-old, winning the Road to Wimbledon Girls Doubles Title on the famous Wimbledon lawn courts.
