WEATHERFORD -- Former Northeastern State softball student-athlete Jessica Boone has been named as head coach at Southwestern Oklahoma.
Boone is the fifth coach in program history at SWOSU and spent the 2022 season at Oklahoma Baptist, where she was an assistant coach. She finished the season 33-22, setting a program-best for most wins in OBU's Division II history. Â
Boone, a native of Sapulpa, Okla., spent the seven seasons at NSU, four as a student-athlete (2015-18) and three as a graduate assistant (2018-21).Â
She started in 206 games, fifth-most for the RiverHawks, and batted .286 with 183 career hits which are good for fourth on NSU's record book. Boone's 38 career doubles remain third-most in RiverHawks' softball history. Â
Shortly after graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, Boone was NSU softball's first CoSIDA Academic All-America. She was a two-time All-MIAA selection member of the league's honor roll during all four playing seasons.
Boone signed with NSU after being a four-year starter and Tulsa Seven All-Conference honoree at Berryhill High School.
