Helsley named 2022 MLB All-Star

LOS ANGELES - Former Northeastern State University standout Ryan Helsley has been named to the 2022 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and will represent the St. Louis Cardinals and the National League in the midsummer classic.

In his fourth season with the Cardinals, Helsley owns a 5-1 record this season, with a 0.73 ERA in 29 games, and has seven saves.  Over 37 innings, he has allowed just 13 hits while striking out 54 batters.  Opponents are hitting just .107 against Helsley this season.

Helsley pitched for the RiverHawks from 2014-15, where he made 21 starts and compiled a 14-8 record.  In 2015, he was fifth in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (13.4) and led the MIAA with 95 punch-outs.

He is the only former NCAA Division II student-athlete in this year's All-Star Game.

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game takes place July 19 at 7 p.m. ET from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and will air live on FOX.
