Men's Soccer hosts Rogers State for Home Opener

TAHLEQUAH – Following nearly a month away from home,  No. 14 Northeastern State has its home opener Saturday evening in a 918 battle with nearby Rogers State at 7 p.m.

The RiverHawks (4-1-1 (2-0 GAC/MIAA) have won three consecutive matches, all in shutout fashion, and took two of the three most recent GAC Weekly Honors.   Niklas Kirhoff earned GAC Goalkeeper of the Week, and Ryan McCully was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Of the 13 weekly conference men's soccer honors issued this season, Northeastern State has claimed five.  Flynn Semmerling is tied for the league high with four goals, and Kirhoff holds the highest save percentage at .867.

History with the Hillcats
Northeastern State is 3-6-1 all-time when facing Rogers State.  The two programs split the home-and-home series last season, with the RiverHawks taking a 1-nil result in Claremore. 

Scouting the Hillcats (2-2-4 (0-0-2 GAC/MIAA)
- Rogers State is receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll. 
- Josh Milla is tied for third in the league with three goals.
- Declan Viljoen holds a .796 save percentage, the second highest in the GAC/MIAA. 
- The Hillcats played Southern Nazarene Thursday evening to a 1-1 draw before traveling to Tahlequah.

Chasing History
With 37 career goals, Flynn Semmerling is tied with Grant Harkreader (1997-2000) on the all-time list at NSU.  The senior is chasing down Sergio Salinas (2003-04), who is next on the all-time list in the men's soccer record and the NCAA-era leader for the program.

The RiverHawks will return to the road next week and will visit Newman on Thursday at 7 p.m.
