RiverHawks shutout Harding, 3-0

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State shut out its opponent for the second consecutive match and handed Harding a 3-nil loss Monday evening.

Hannah Stettler kicked in her second goal of the season off a pass from Sydney Taylor in the eighth minute of the match, and the RiverHawks never looked back.  Stettler was also credited with an assist in the 80th minute when Myka Heimbach rocketed a ball through the Harding keeper.

Harding (0-3-1) also gifted NSU a point in the 59th minute when a shot from Lauren Parton was deflected by a Harding defender and into their own goal.

Northeastern State controlled the tempo in the final 45 minutes, out-shooting Harding 11-to-3.

Rebecca Partyka earned her first career shutout and had a pair of saves.

The end of the 2019 regular season and the opening round of the MIAA Tournament against Newman is the most recent time NSU has won consecutive shutouts.  Northeastern State moves to 12-0-1 all-time against Harding at home and has won ten consecutive against the Lady Bison.

The RiverHawks improve to 3-0-1 overall and return to action Friday, where they will make a short trek to Claremore to face Rogers State.
