NSU Returns Home to Battle FHSU Friday, UNK Sunday

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State returns to DeLoache Field this week after a four-match road trip in continued MIAA action.

Northeastern State (3-5-4, 1-3-1 MIAA) vs. Fort Hays State (8-1-3, 4-0-1 MIAA) // October 13 at 7 p.m. // Live Coverage

History with the Tigers
Northeastern State leads the all-time series 6-4-1 over Fort Hays State. Last season's goalless draw in Hays, Kan. marked the first stalemate in series history. The RiverHawks and Tigers split the previous four matchups before that.

Scouting the Tigers
- Fort Hays State enters Friday with one of the MIAA's highest-scoring offenses, with 22 goals on the season to tie for second in the conference.
- The Tigers have multiple playmakers that can bring the fireworks on the offensive end. FHSU possesses three of the MIAA's top ten goal-scoring threats, with Hannah Mares currently tied for second with seven goals, while Allison Worley and Montserrat Diaz are part of a tie for eighth.
- Goalkeeper Isabel Robben has been one of the conference's best at keeping opposing attempts in front of her. Robben currently ranks second in save percentage (.821) and goals against average (.583), while she's participated in the most shutouts among all MIAA goalies (7).
- After the Friday night matchup, the Tigers head to Claremore, Okla. to face Rogers State on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Fast Facts
- Last season in Hays, the RiverHawks out-shot the Tigers 6-5, and despite four of their six attempts being on-target, NSU came away scoreless after 90 minutes to draw with FHSU, who could only muster one shot on-goal during the match.
- Low-scoring affairs have been a regular sight when the two teams have faced off over the last decade. NSU's 2-1 victory over FHSU on Oct. 9, 2015 is the only contest in the series since 2012 that's seen more than one goal score.
- Friday the 13th may seem frightening to some, but it's been good to Northeastern State. The RiverHawks have won their last two matchups held on Friday the 13th, defeating Northwest Missouri in 2017 (2-1) and McMurry in 2013 (2-1, 2 OT).

Northeastern State (3-5-4, 1-3-1 MIAA) vs. Nebraska-Kearney (2-8-2, 1-2-2 MIAA) // October 15 at 1 p.m. // Live Coverage

History with the Lopers
Northeastern State is 6-3-1 all-time against Nebraska-Kearney. The RiverHawks have won the last two, while they're a perfect 4-0 against the Lopers at home.

Scouting the Lopers
- Prior to facing Northeastern State, Nebraska-Kearney will attempt to secure their first win in program history over Rogers State when they head to Claremore on Friday, Oct. 13.
- After struggling to just one goal across their first four MIAA matches, the UNK offense dominated Newman last Sunday, as the Lopers found makes from four different players to secure a 4-0 victory over the Jets in Kearney.
- UNK ranks 10th in the MIAA in both scoring offense (ten goals for) and scoring defense (23 goals against) entering the week.
- It's been a busy year for UNK goalkeepers, as Susie Bovaird and Mackenzie Smith have combined for 57 saves entering the week, a total that ties with Northwest Missouri for second in the conference.

Fast Facts
- Neither team has held a winning streak longer than two across the series, but Northeastern State has a chance to change that on Sunday, entering as winners of two straight over Nebraska-Kearney.
- The whistles may not be especially active on Sunday, as NSU and UNK are the two least-penalized teams in the conference entering this week. The RiverHawks have seen 81 fouls against them, while the Lopers have seen 85 so far.
- Whitney Gentry and Eileen Jeschke helped drive NSU to victory last season in Kearney, with the two midfielders netting goals in a 2-0 effort. Both marked the first goals of their careers as RiverHawks. Meanwhile, the defense held strong throughout to give them their second consecutive shutout victory over the Lopers.

Coming Up
Northeastern State heads into the second half of their four-match homestand the following week with matches against Northwest Missouri (Friday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m.) and Missouri Western (Sunday, Oct. 22, 1 p.m.).
