TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State takes to the road this Thursday to play Fort Hays State in their longest GAC/MIAA trek of the season and they will return home Saturday to host Newman at 1 p.m.
The RiverHawks (6-4-3, 4-3-1 MIAA) enter the week with 13 points and are in fourth place in the GAC/MIAA standings just three ahead of Newman with Harding a point back of them. Northeastern State will see both in their final regular season matches with the GAC/MIAA Tournament taking the top four finishers.

History with the Tigers (6-6-2, 5-2-2 GAC/MIAA)
The RiverHawks are 9-15-7 all-time against the Tigers and are 2-10-2 when visiting Fort Hays State. Northeastern State's last two meetings with Fort Hays State have resulted in draws. NSU's last win at Fort Hays State was during the spring 2021 abbreviated season (1-0) on April 10.
Scouting the Tigers
- Northeastern State is Fort Hays' lone opponent of the week and will see all Oklahoma schools for the remainder of the season. The Tigers are playing their fourth consecutive conference match at home and play five of its last six on their home pitch.
- Fort Hays State is third in the GAC/MIAA with 26 goals and fourth with 26 goals allowed. They were socked for seven goals on Oct. 14 at home against Rogers State.
- Elias Ovelar Semeniuk is third in the GAC/MIAA with 31 shots taken and sixth overall with six goals scored. The freshman scored his first career goal against NSU this season and has two goals in each of the previous two matches.

Northeastern State holds a 19-10-2 record against Newman, taking the last six meetings between the teams and seven of the eight conference matchups in the series.
Scouting the Jets
- Newman is a win back of the RiverHawks in the conference standings and will be idle on Thursday before their visit to Tahlequah on Saturday afternoon.
- The Jets are 2-5-1 at home this year and has handed Southern Nazarene its lone conference loss of the season.
- Alberto Romano leads the GAC/MIAA with 52 shots taken and he is in eighth place with five goals on the year. Carlos Bellosta Manchon has two hat tricks this season and is tied for second in the GAC/MIAA with nine goals, the fifth year senior has went through five consecutive matches without finding the back of the net.

- When the two teams last met in Tahlequah on Oct. 27, 2022, Northeastern State rode a strong wave of offense in a 5-2 win over Newman. After the Jets attacked first on the match's opening goal, the RiverHawks bounced back with five unanswered, four of which were claimed from the 55th minute to the 62nd.
Martin Martinez netted a brace in the win.
- In their first battle of 2023 in Wichita, the two teams combined for 29 fouls, the most in a single match across the series since 2010.
- An NSU win would be their fourth at DeLoache Field this season. Excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign, the RiverHawks have won at least four in Tahlequah every season since 2017.
