Bracket Set For 2023 MIAA Soccer Postseason Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced the seedings and pairings for the 2023 Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The 2023 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship Tournament officially kicks off Friday, November 3, with the four highest seeds hosting quarterfinal matches on their campuses. The four winning teams out of the quarterfinal matches will then meet in Wichita, Kan. for the semifinal matches on Thursday, November 9, hosted at the Stryker Sports Complex.

Washburn captured the 2023 regular season title for just the second time in program history – first since 2006. The Ichabods went 9-1-1 in league play to total a MIAA-best 28 points. Their only MIAA loss was a 1-0 deficit to Emporia State in the final match of the regular season.

The title awarded Washburn the top seed in the 2023 MIAA Championship Tournament. The Bods will host No. 8-seeded Missouri Western at their own Yager Stadium in Topeka, Kan. on Friday, November 3.

The Griffons ended regular season action in a three-way tie for sixth with 13 conference points on a record of 3-4-4. Western was handed the eight seed based on the Association's tiebreaker protocol.

Central Missouri, the three-time defending regular season championship, finished second in this season's stands with a MIAA record of 8-1-2 for 26 points. The Jennies will host No. 7-seeded Central Oklahoma at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg, Mo. on November 3.

Central Oklahoma (3-4-4) joined the Griffons with 13 total points. The Bronchos earned the seven seed over Missouri Western based on the Association's tiebreaker protocol.

Fort Hays State and Emporia State will host the remaining two quarterfinal matches. Both programs ended regular season competition with a league record of 8-2-1 for 25 points.

The Tigers claimed the No. 3 seed over the Hornets thanks to their 3-1 victory in Emporia on September 24. The No. 3-seeded Tigers will host No. 6-seeded Northeastern State on November 3 at the FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kan.

Northeastern State was the third program to tally 13 points in the three-way tie for sixth. The RiverHawks didn't suffer a loss to the Bronchos or the Griffons in the 2023 season to earn the No. 6 seed over both programs.

No. 4-seeded Emporia State will host No. 5 seeded Northwest Missouri at the Hornets' ESU Soccer Pitch on Friday, November 3. Northwest went 5-2-4 for 19 points in MIAA action to secure the fifth seed. The Bearcats ended their 2023 campaign with six straight shutouts.
