Quartlebaum’s Stellar Debut Leads NSU to 73-52 Win over NWOSU

TAHLEQUAH – Trey Quartlebaum led the charge for Northeastern State, scoring 21 points in his first action as a RiverHawk in a 73-52 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State Friday night in the NSU Event Center.

Points were hard to come by for both sides to start, with the two teams combining for just 22 over the game's first 12:53 of play (12-10). NSU held NWOSU to just 8-of-30 shooting (26.7%) from the floor in the first half, while the RiverHawks went on a 14-7 run to finish the opening twenty minutes with a 30-21 lead.

The second half saw some back-and-forth action for the first eight minutes, as the Rangers brought the game back to five (45-40) with 12:04 left. Ultimately, the RiverHawks slammed the door on the opposition to finish out the night, holding the visitors to 12 points the rest of the way.

The NSU defense held its own all night long, holding NWOSU to just 21-of-69 shooting over the evening (30.4%) and leaving the Rangers without a converted three-pointer from their 14 attempts across the game.

Meanwhile, Quartlebaum provided 21 points on six-of-ten shooting alongside eight made free throws. Anthony Allen saw his first career start and contributed a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds) while adding seven blocks.

Caison Hartloff hit double figures over 19 minutes of work, scoring ten points in his 2023-24 debut.

Northeastern State will return to the floor tomorrow night when they battle Mary (N.D.) at 7:30 p.m. inside the NSU Event Center.
