TAHLEQUAH – Behind a career night from Broken Arrow's
Anthony Allen the RiverHawks led from horn to horn to best Haskell 92–70 on Wednesday evening inside the NSU Event Center.
Allen shot 14-for-19 from the field with 30 points and was a pair of rebounds short of his second double-double of the season.
Jaxon Jones was two assists short of his fourth career double-double with ten points.
Ethan Blackmon is the third NSU player in the lineup to flirt with a double-double leading the bench with 13 points and adding nine boards.
Caison Hartloff had 11 points and
Marcus Scott V added nine for the RiverHawks who shot 55.1 percent (38-69) from the field.
An 11-0 run that started at the 15:28 mark in the first half set the tone for NSU who hit a trio of triples to give them a double-digit lead over Haskell. Northeastern State shot a blazing 60.5 percent in the opening 20 minutes and led Haskell as many as 23 points in front of the 2,000+ in attendance.
After missing two seasons due to injury,
Jake Gendron made his NSU debut playing 11 minutes and having five rebounds.
Watie Byrd had his first action in a year and had the team's final bucket of the game.
Haskell traveled nine players in their exhibition contest with Preston Olney leading them with 16 points.
Northeastern State improves to 2-1 and will travel Saturday to UT Tyler for a non-conference matchup at 3 p.m.
