RiverHawks drop MIAA opener to Fort Hays State

TAHLEQUAH – True freshman Ethan Blackmon highlighted a quiet showing Thursday as Northeastern State dropped its MIAA opener 65-43 inside the NSU Event Center.  Blackmon came off the bench and had 14 points off the bench in 22 minutes played. 

The RiverHawks (4-2, 0-1 MIAA) shot 27.3 percent in the second half with half of their six made buckets coming from beyond the arc.  Outside of the opening bucket made by NSU, the Tigers led the rest of the contest and finished the game on a 15-3 run to beat the RiverHawks for the seventh consecutive time.

Anthony Allen had eight points and Trey Quartlebaum added seven. Seth Pratt grabbed four rebounds in his first career start for NSU.

Kaleb Hammeke led Fort Hays State (5-1, 1-0 MIAA) with a game-high 22 points. 

Northeastern State remains at home to host Nebraska-Kearney at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
