TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State returns home for the first time in 2023 to Thomas C. Rousey Field Friday for a three-game series with William Jewell.
Weather and field conditions pushed four scheduled home games to Pryor High School, where the RiverHawks went 2-2 overall. Rousey Field was kind to the RiverHawks in 2022, where they went 19-5 overall and won its last five games.
Ticketed gate entry is new for 2023, with general admission seating costing $5 per game. Fans can order tickets at GoRiverHawksGo.com/Tickets; season passes are $95 per adult ($50 for children).
The RiverHawks are 3-4 to start the season with a .294 team batting average. DeClaudio Irvin leads the NSU roster with 13 RBI, and Isaiah Keller is batting .400 and has swiped six bags. Lee Callison paces the NSU starting rotation with a 1.38 ERA and has struck out 12 batters in two appearances. Seth Stacey struck out 11 East Central batters in his most recent appearance and has 16 punch-outs this season.
William Jewell's season opener will be Friday against the RiverHawks. Jewell is coming off their best season since 2016, going 30-21 on the year and returning to the GLVC Tournament.
Northeastern State leads the series 6-2 over the Cardinals and took three of four in their last meeting in 2020.
