Game Recap: Softball |

Softball wins twice at home

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State opened its home slate with a pair of wins beating Bacone 6-0 and run-ruling MidAmerica Nazarene 12-1 in the program's first contest under the lights at RiverHawks Park.

The wins improve NSU's record to 9-5 overall, pushing their home winning streak to 12 consecutive games.

Allison Zanca hit a homer in the opener and had an RBI double as the RiverHawks shut out Bacone.   Zanca drove in half of NSU's runs after they scored for four consecutive innings on the Warriors.

Baylea Smith drove in a run on a double in the fourth and had a two-hit game.

Savannah Evans spun a complete game three-hit shutout to improve to 2-2 on the year.

MidAmerica Nazarene jumped on the RiverHawks in the opening frame and held the lead until the second, where NSU blasted a pair of home runs.  Raegan Edwards cleared the bases, and Baylea Smith followed up with her third homer of the year.

NSU added one more run in the third to go up 7-1 on MNU before the RiverHawks got another grand slam off the bat of Evans.

Madison Heinle (5-2) tossed a complete game four-hitter and stuck out five batters.

Northeastern State returns to action Saturday at 10 a.m., facing Midland University.
