TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State got within a point of upsetting No. 20 ranked Angelo State Friday, but the Rambelles rattled off three consecutive court wins to edge the RiverHawks 4-3.
No. 22
Emilia Cosatto defeated No. 25 Dianela Rodriguez 6-4, 6-1 on the main court. Newcomer
Valeria Teran handed her Angelo State opponent a 6-3, 6-3 result on court five.
Leah Gonzales Edwards won her fourth consecutive singles match, winning 6-2, 6-1 on court three.
"Really good college tennis match today. We didn't pull it out, but everyone was fighting hard, working, and competing their tails off," said head coach
Tim McLane. "The way we were able to hang around, even had a lead at one point there at 3-2, and play through a lot of pressure, that pays off down the road. If anything, that just shows the level that this squad is capable of competing at."
Angelo State improves to 5-1 with the win over Northeastern State.
The RiverHawks move to 2-1 on the year and will return to action at UA Fort Smith on Wednesday.
