RiverHawks ride 10-run eighth to 14-2 win

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Northeastern State punished East Central's bullpen for ten runs in the eighth inning and ran away with a 14-2 win Saturday afternoon.

The RiverHawks (1-1) sent a whopping 16 batters to the plate and had just one extra-base hit in the scoring frenzy.  East Central blew through seven arms in the frame, with five unable to record an out.

Every player in the NSU lineup recorded a hit Saturday, with DeClaudio Irvin turning in a four-RBI game.  C.D. White had a pair of doubles and three RBI.  Brady Evans, Blake Freeman, and Matt Kaiser collected a pair of hits.

C.D. White scored a run in the opening frame, and NSU held the lead until the third, where ECU plated two on RBI singles.  The RiverHawks trailed shortly, and in the fifth, Irvin tied the game on a fielder's choice and walked in a run in the sixth to retake the lead.

The RiverHawks scored 13 unanswered runs in the final four innings, with head coach James Cullinane winning his first game at NSU.

Alex Khan struck out four batters and went six innings; Kyle Duffey tossed two scoreless frames to finish the contest.

East Central was limited to five hits as they fell to 0-2 on the year.

Northeastern State closes out its trip Sunday with Southern Arkansas at 4 p.m.
