MAGNOLIA, Ark. — For the second consecutive day, Northeastern State was edged 4-3, with Henderson State earning a decisive win on the main court Sunday afternoon.
"Obviously, another really tough 3-4 loss; it almost feels like we're destined to be in a dog fight every time out at this point," said head coach
Tim McLane. We just have to work on being more consistent with our level of play from point to point, especially when the scoreboard gets tight. We're young, and this weekend was a really good learning experience for us that we can hopefully build on as we gear up for conference play."
The Reddies (6-3) took doubles with 6-2 and 6-3 wins on courts one and two for the early point. Northeastern State pulled back ahead with wins on the bottom of their lineup.
Roos Karremans took a 6-0, 6-4 result on court five, and
Sandra Mari Marti won 6-2, 6-0 on court six.
Henderson won on court four and then both teams split three set results on courts two and three. The Reddies would clinch the final point winning 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 on the main court.
Northeastern State falls to 4-3 overall, and they will return home Thursday to host NCAA D-I Western Illinois.
