PITTSBURG, Kan. –
Savannah Evans hit her tenth homer of the year, but the RiverHawks were swept Sunday by Pittsburg State. The Gorillas shutout NSU 7-0 in the opener and took a 6-3 result in the nightcap.
Northeastern State left ten runners on base in game one and struck out ten times to the Gorillas. Pittsburg State scored twice in the first and tacked on runs in the final three innings.
Chloe Bohuslavicky had two of NSU's six hits, and Evans (6-7) was charged with the loss.
In the nightcap, the RiverHawks chased Pitt State's starter without recording an out in the first and plated a pair of runs. However, NSU's offense was limited to Evans' solo homer in the fourth.
The Gorillas (21-9, 6-2 MIAA) overtook the RiverHawks with four runs in the bottom of the first and added two more in the second.
Madison Heinle (6-4) struck out five batters, with Bohuslavicky reaching base three times.
Northeastern State drops to 18-13 (0-6 MIAA) and will be on the road next week to face Central Missouri this Friday.
