Baseball comeback comes up short in 10-9 loss to UCO

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State scored five runs in the bottom of the night but came up short 10-9 to Central Oklahoma Tuesday evening at Thomas C. Rousey Field.

C.D. White had three doubles and a pair of RBI, and Isaiah Keller hit his sixth homer of the season in the ninth inning.

Central Oklahoma's first three batters reached, and they were able to plate two runs in the opening frame.  The Bronchos added three more runs in the third, with Cameron Uselton hitting his fifth homer of the year to left field.

White grabbed a run back in the third after UCO extended the inning on a fielding error to first base to make it a 5-1 ballgame.  Central pulled back ahead by five in the fourth, scoring a run on a fielder's choice, and added two more in the sixth.

Northeastern State put up three runs in the eighth to cut the UCO advantage to four. Keller plated a pair, and Brady Evans had an RBI.  Central Oklahoma added a couple of insurance runs in the ninth after loading the bases.

The RiverHawks opened the ninth with a pair of walks to set the table for the rally.  A UCO throwing error scored one run, and White doubled down the right field line to cut the deficit back to four.  Ty Van Meter hit a sac fly to center to score White in from third.   With a runner at third, Keller hit a 1-1 pitch to left field to put NSU within one run.

Evans had NSU's fourth hit of the frame and stole second base to get into scoring position, but Central Oklahoma ended the game on a fly ball out.

Northeastern State used six pitchers, with Van Meter going 3.2 innings in the midweek start.

Central Oklahoma moves to 21-9 (10-7 MIAA) with the win.

The RiverHawks (12-16, 6-11 MIAA) travel next to Missouri Western for a three-game series starting Friday.
