LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Northeastern State men's golf team continues their Spring season at The Warrior Invitational at The Legacy Golf Club (Par 72 – 7,107 Yards) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The RiverHawks are in second place carding a 294 Thursday, hosts Winona State University is trailing the NSU very closely with an overall score of 295.
The eight-team event features the University of Minnesota Crookston, Detroit Mercy, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Redlands, Winona State University, University of British Columbia, University of Fraser Valley and Northeastern State University.
Carlos Gomez steers NSU and is in third on the medalist leaderboard shooting a 69. The senior was tied for the third most birdies with four and landed the second most pars with 13.
Christian Yanovitch leads off the team's second-lowest score of 74 putting him tied for ninth place and is tied for third-most birdies along with Gomez.
Ryan Morant was one behind him at 75 and following in their teammate's lead,
Parker Rose scored 76 and
Brett Wilcoxen turned in a 77. Morant is tied for 14th and Rose is tied for 19th.
Redlands (Calif.) carries a one-stroke lead over the RiverHawks shooting a 293. Alessandro Trenta of Winona State is currently first on the medalist board after shooting a 64 today. Justin Towill from the University of British Columbia is close behind with a score of 68 not far ahead of Gomez.
The RiverHawks will return to the course Friday morning for their second round at 11 a.m.
