Softball hosts four games this weekend

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State's softball homestand continues where they will host No. 4 ranked Central Oklahoma and Newman this Friday and Saturday.

Friday evening's doubleheader is Indigenous Peoples' Night at RiverHawks Park and Northeastern State will have turquoise uniforms for the first time this season as part of the festivities.   Saturday is Youth Sports Appreciation Day, where local teams are invited to come to the ballpark for an afternoon of softball.

Central Oklahoma (30-5, 12-2 MIAA) has allowed six runs in its previous eight games and has three shutouts in its last four contests.  The Bronchos have visited Tahlequah already this season, and played a non-conference doubleheader against Northern State on March 18.

Newman (15-27, 3-9 MIAA) enter the weekend on a four game winning streak.  At home they are .500 (7-7) but on the road they are 8-20 overall.  The Jets will be in Claremore on Friday afternoon to face Rogers State prior to seeing the RiverHawks.   Northeastern State is 12-1 all-time when facing Newman and 4-0 when hosting the Jets.

The RiverHawks have three of the four top home run hitters in the MIAA this season.  Chloe Bohuslavicky paces league teams with 14, Savannah Evans and Addy Wolfe are tied for second with 11.   Wolfe has homered five times in the previous six games and has ten hits.  Evans has given up just two earned runs in her last three starts and holds a 2.93 earned run average.

First pitch on Friday starts at 4 p.m., with Saturday's games start at 1 p.m.
