Final home games on-deck for NSU Softball

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State closes out its 2023 home slate in softball this weekend, where they will host Washburn and Emporia State.

The RiverHawks (25-18, 7-11 MIAA) will have Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day at the ballpark Friday, where they will host Washburn for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.  Prior to the games, the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting with the Athletics Program.  Saturday will be Senior Day at RiverHawks Park, where the program will honor its lone graduate Jaeden Rosenquist following the doubleheader at 1 p.m.

Washburn (33-11, 12-8 MIAA) has been ranked as high at No. 15 nationally in the coaches poll but is still picking up votes.  Ichabods' pitcher Jaycee Ginter is fourth in the nation with 22 wins in the circle while leading the MIAA in victories.

Emporia State (31–17, 11-9 MIAA) has won 12 consecutive games at home this season but is 4-9 in true road contests.  The Hornets will be in Claremore on Friday before facing Northeastern State the following day.

With eight MIAA games left on the schedule, the RiverHawks are two games back of a postseason slot for the upcoming tournament in Topeka.  The RiverHawks have three of the top home run hitters in the MIAA this season.  Chloe Bohuslavicky paces league teams with 15, Addy Wolfe is second with 12, and Savannah Evans is tied for third with 11.
