Softball Travels to Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State This Weekend

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State closes its regular season with its longest road trip this Saturday and Sunday, where they will face Nebraska-Keareny and Fort Hays State. 

Holding a 9-13 MIAA mark, the RiverHawks are sitting two games back of the tournament cutline.  Fort Hays State currently occupies the final transfer spot and is tied with Pittsburg State in the MIAA standings for seventh with an 11-11 MIAA record.

The RiverHawks (27-20) do not have a tiebreaker with the Gorillas, with Pittsburg State sweeping NSU earlier this year.   

Nebraska-Kearney (16-30) holds a 7-15 overall mark in MIAA play, four games back of Fort Hays State.  The Lopers have played just eight home games this season has traveled over 8,000 miles to play their schedule.  Northeastern State is 3-5 in Kearney, had have been swept in its previous two doubleheader visits to their ballpark. 

Fort Hays State (29-20) will see Rogers State for a doubleheader Saturday before facing the RiverHawks to close out the 2023 regular season.  Northeastern State is 11-11 overall when facing the Tigers but is 4-8 when visiting Hays, Kansas. 

The RiverHawks lead the MIAA with 68 home runs this season and holds the three top home run hitters.  Chloe Bohuslavicky and Addy Wolfe are tied for the program's single-season mark with 15 long balls.  Savannah Evans is two back of them and holds the fourth-highest batting average among MIAA players at .414. 

First pitch on both days starts at noon.
