WINONA, Minn. – Northeastern State fired off the lowest round of the day, and it moved them up five places on the leaderboard Saturday, where they finished tied for 13th place, shooting 891 (306-296-289).
The efforts were too little too late for the RiverHawks, who missed the cut by 11 strokes and will see their season come to an end at the NCAA Midwest / Central Super Regional.
The RiverHawks were tied with Southwestern Oklahoma on the 20-team leaderboard and two back of Central Missouri and Central Oklahoma.
Brett Wilcoxen had his fourth under-par round of the season Saturday and was the highest-placing NSU player finishing tied for 15th overall. His 215 (76-72-70) was three strokes back of forcing a playoff for an individual transfer spot to the NCAA Tournament.
Christian Yanovitch vaulted up 23 spots on the leaderboard, placing tied for 37th overall, scoring a 223 (77-74-72).
In his final tournament,
Ryan Morant scored 226 (76-74-76), and
Carlos Gomez was one back of him (77-76-74). Gomez completed 126 rounds at NSU in five seasons, most likely the most in any player in program history.
Gabe Replogle rounded out NSU's group with a 233 (82-78-73).
The NCAA postseason appearance is the 19th for the program and its best Super Regional finish since 2014.
