TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State makes its 19th NCAA postseason appearance Thursday where they will play on the par-71, 6778 yard The Bridges Golf Club in Winona, Minn.
Twenty teams and eight individuals will be in the field vying for an opportunity to advance to the NCAA National Championship. Following 54-holes played over three days, the top-six teams and the top two individuals not on those teams advance.
The RiverHawks are one of the favorites heading into the NCAA Central / Midwest Super Regional as the No. 2 seed in the Central and are paired with both of the top seeds, Grand Valley State and Henderson State for the first two rounds.
Of the field, just Bemidji State will have a team who competed this season at The Bridges. Bemidji State is the No. 10 seed out of the Central Region.
Wind won't be an issue in the Mississippi River Valley, but there is over a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday afternoons.
Northeastern State's best finish in the NCAA Super Regional was first in 2004; they finished in seventh place at the National Championship. NSU's last appearance in the National Finals came in 2009.
