TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State opens its 28th season of women's soccer on Friday, hosting Ouachita Baptist for the eleventh time.  The match marks the beginning of the regular season for both teams, with head coach Chase Wooten entering his 13th season as head coach of the RiverHawks.

History with the Tigers
- The RiverHawks are 16-3-1 against OBU and 9-0-1 at home when facing the Tigers.  Northeastern State has won 12 consecutive matches and has not allowed more than one goal in the last 13 meetings.  Of the 20 contests with Ouachita Baptist, Northeastern State has pitched a shutout in 10 of them. The Tigers are a regular non-conference opponent for the RiverHawks, as the two teams have met in every season since 2010, with the exception of the COVID-shortened 2020 season. 

Scouting the Tigers
- OBU finished the 2022 season with a 9-5-5 mark and was 6-1-5 in Great American Conference play. 
- The Tigers returned nine starters from last season's squad and were the preseason pick to win its conference title.
- Ouachita returned ten starters from last season's squad and was picked to finish in second place in the GAC Preseason Poll, earning a pair of first-place votes. 
- Goalkeeper Michele Snow is ranked 22nd in NCAA Division II women's soccer with 254 career saves.  

Fast Facts
- Northeastern State has won by at least two goals in their last three meetings against Ouachita Baptist at DeLoache Field. 
- Forward Sydney Taylor scored in her RiverHawk debut against Ouachita Baptist in 2022, booting the lone goal of the contest. Taylor would go on to score two more and finish third on the roster with nine points, and was also the lone freshman to start all 19 games for Northeastern State. 
- Offensively, the RiverHawks have been unafraid of being the aggressor in recent history. NSU attempted 21 shots in 2022's meeting with OBU and have attempted at least 18 in nine of their last ten against the Tigers.

History with the Lady Bison
- Sunday will be the 24th meeting between the two programs, with the RiverHawks winning the last 10 against Harding.  In Searcy, Northeastern State is 7-2 when facing Harding.

Scouting the Lady Bison
- Sunday will be Harding's home opener, they will be on the road Friday at Southwest Baptist.
- In the last decade, Harding is 4-5-1 in their home openers.
- Harding was picked sixth in the GAC after going 1-6-5 on year ago.  The Lady Bison return 19 letterwinners and nine starters from its team.
- Last season's 14 goals for the Lady Bison were in the bottom 50 in NCAA Division II Women's Soccer. 

Fast Facts
- The RiverHawks have scored multiple goals in every contest against the Lady Bison since 2009.
- NSU goalkeeper Rebecca Partyka recorded her first career shutout in last season's matchup against Harding in Tahlequah. The then-true freshman made a pair of saves in the 3-nil win. 
- The RiverHawks are 8-2 over the last decade in road openers, though they've lost two of their last three. 

Coming Up 
The RiverHawks will remain on the road and will travel to Southwest Baptist on September 7. They return to DeLoache Field on September 10 to take on Northwestern Oklahoma.
