Men's Soccer closes non-conference play Thursday

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State closes out non-conference play Thursday with its lone match of the week hosting Dallas Baptist for the first time in program history.  The RiverHawks are coming off a 0-1-1 weekend in Memphis and are 1-1-2 overall.

History with the Patriots
Last season's 1-1 draw at DBU is the lone meeting for the RiverHawks. 

Scouting the Patriots
  • Dallas Baptist will play its first road match of the season this Thursday in Tahlequah and they are 2-1 to start the year.
  • The Patriots' last match was on Thursday, Sept. 7 where they beat fellow GAC member Southern Nazarene 2-1.
  • The loss of the season came against then-ranked No. 2 CSU-Pueblo, 3-2.
  • The Patriots were picked to finish fourth in the Lone Star Conference and went 7-6-5 overall in 2022. 
Fast Facts
  • During last season's meeting, the Patriots out-shot the RiverHawks 16-12, though both teams had eight on-goal attempts. Three of NSU's eight came from Miguel Torres, while Giani Mascarel came off the bench and scored the team's lone goal. 
  • Just three NSU players who started last season's contest against Dallas Baptist remain with the team. The Patriots bring back six players who received a start from last year's match.
  • NSU's last win against LSC competition came on Sep. 14, 2019, in a 3-1 victory over Oklahoma Christian. Ben Watson scored, while the other two RiverHawk goals came from off the bench, with Tom Singhgolden and Jameson Biles connecting.
